Zona Caffe has been serving traditional Italian meals to the Vaughan people since 2009. This place is decorated in a modern style, with contrasting colours and gleaming details. Parts of the walls are painted bright red, others are white and the ones behind the counter are soft cream. There are gleaming chrome accents, as well as plenty of modern light fixtures.
The tables are finished in a shiny black finish, while the chairs have a modern design and are made from bentwood. The food displays have black undersides, glass display shelves, and stainless steel parts. The counters are made from black granite in a high-gloss finish.
The menu is predominantly Italian, prepared with local ingredients and Canadian twist. The food is served Tavola Calda style, meaning all the dishes are prepared beforehand, displayed to showcase the food, and are reheated as necessary. There are pasta, pizzas, roasted meats, fish, and plenty of sides. Italian cuisine is famous for its fresh salads, and this place always offers fresh tomatoes, olives, fresh greens, and other interesting vegetable options.
People can enjoy a coffee and a pastry, as is the Italian breakfast tradition, or get many types of breakfast sandwiches. Or even go for a slice of pizza if that is your thing. This place serves alcohol from its full bar, as Italians like a drink with their lunch, which is very common and Zona likes to emulate the Italian tradition to the dot.
Besides the foods, this place is famous for great coffee, which many of the reviews I read mentioned in great detail. The pièce de résistance is their state of the art espresso machine, Victoria Arduino, responsible for the many great coffees served here.
