Zaferano Ristorante was opened in the early 2000s (2002) and is still family-owned and operated. The place has a good dining atmosphere provided by the excellent interior design and tasteful décor. It is decorated with pleasant earthy tones on the walls, wrought iron light fixtures that cast a warm glow and elegant exposed brick accent walls and wooden decorations.
There are a lot of windows on three sides covered with plantation-style shutters and wrought iron decorations. The tables and chairs are wooden and have white tablecloth runners. The menu is prepared with fresh local ingredients per the family’s Italian family tradition, with house-made pizza dough and tomato sauce
There are antipasti platters with bruschetta, Italian-style egg rolls, gnocchi, arancini, calamari, gamberoni diavola, and burrata. There are fresh salads, a large selection of pasta dishes like spaghetti alla chitarra, stuffed gnocchi, penne alla vodka, rigatoni cafone, orecchiette, medallion tre formaggi, rigatoni peperonata, pappardelle Zafferano, fettuccine al Tartufo and linguine Tutto Mare.
The mains include grilled chicken with pesto, veal Marsala, New York striploin steak, lamb chops, rib eye steak; seafood dishes like grilled salmon, assorted grilled seafood, green land halibut, mixed seafood in white wine sauce, pan-seared cod, and a proper selection of pizzas. One of the most requested items on the menu is the risotto with seafood sautéed in a white wine and garlic sauce.
The many patrons that have dined at Zafferano have positive notes about the food and drinks served here. Also, the chef pays good attention to the food presentation, and most of the pasta dishes come on white porcelain platters. Many of the main dishes are served on beautiful wooden boards made from olive or walnut wood. To complement the fine meals, the restaurant offers a carefully selected wine list, as well as homemade tiramisu.
