The Nonna’s Oven restaurant has started “filling bellies” since 2006, with dishes prepared by original 50-year old Italian recipes. The Richmond Hill restaurant is nicely designed, with cream-coloured walls, dark wood tables and chairs, wood and brick décor on the walls and wood and exposed brick bar.
The menu is completely Italian, with salads, appetizers, pizza, panzerotti, pasta dishes, and sandwiches. The ingredients are fresh, as is the famous Italian flatbread focaccia which is served with almost all dishes. The bread, bruschetta, pizza, and panzerotti are baked in a wood oven and that greatly enhances the flavour of the food. The logo of the restaurant is a whimsical representation of a grandma waiving a rolling pin, which is a nod to the secret dough recipe used for all the loaves of bread, pizzas and panzerotti served here.
The dishes follow the seasons, and you will find variations of you visit them during the summer and the winter months. This family-friendly restaurant does not have a separate kids menu, and you will be careful when you order, as most portions are very large. Nonna’s Oven also serves takeout and caters to large events, with a special catering menu. If you decide to visit Nonna’s Oven in Richmond Hill, don’t expect a fancy restaurant, but a simple eatery with amazing Italian food, reasonable prices, and good dining experience.
