About Brewery Bay Food Company:

Located just a few hundred metres from the Port of Orillia and the city’s waterfront, the Brewery Bay Food Company is something of a downtown Orillia institution: open for more than 25 years, it is an ever-popular spot for food and drink and is in TripAdvisor’s top ten restaurants in the entire area and a Certificate of Excellence Winner for 2017 to 2018.

From the outside, the Brewery Bay Food Company looks striking, with its black and charcoal walls sitting behind two raised and fenced seasonal outdoor seating areas. Inside is just as inviting, with exposed brick walls, wood floors and wood-panelled banquettes, along with a large bar area and plenty of televisions, plus a fireplace that creates a homely, cosy and casual atmosphere; however, some online reviewers have complained about the noise levels during peak hours and that it is ‘not a place to go for a quiet conversation over lunch.’

  • Casual, relaxed atmosphere
  • Hearty and huge ‘pub grub’ menu, big selection of draught beers
  • Kid friendly and great for groups
  • Plenty of vegetarian and some vegan/gluten-free options
  • Parking available
  • Wheelchair accessible

Cons

  • Can be noisy during peak times
  • Service can be a little slow, also during busy periods

The menu at the Brewery Bay Food Company is lengthy with a multitude of choices, consisting mostly of hearty classics such as nachos, burgers, wings, pizza, soups and salads, and wraps and sandwiches. There are various categories to choose from, including appetizers such as bruschetta, deep dish pan garlic bread or giant potato skins, and burgers such as Swiss & Portobello mushroom. Pub grub choices include fish and chips and buffalo chicken fingers, sides include well-known favourites such as guacamole, while dinners (only served after 5 pm) include chicken parmigiana or fettuccine alfredo. A good selection of desserts is on offer, such as apple crumble or ice cream sandwiches, while the full bar contains a wide range of beverages including wines, cocktails, soft drinks and milkshakes made with real fruit. The restaurant has recently introduced ‘new offerings’ and ‘signature selections’ to the menu that include bread pudding, goat cheese and pecan salad, and vegetarian shepherd’s pie.

The restaurant has many reviews online, mostly leaning towards the positive. Of the negative feedback, one patron wrote on TripAdvisor that they ‘went there for lunch service, was not too bad, drinks very overpriced and food was basically overcooked and too salty, also very noisy inside’, while on Google a one star review stated ‘Was sitting over an hour for meal and that's after 45min of waiting to be asked what I was ordering.’ In terms of positive feedback, one customer posted to Facebook that the Brewery Bay Food Company has ‘great food, fun, friendly atmosphere. Amazing staff’, while on Yelp a reviewer stated ‘I love the food at the bay! Tasty & fresh ingredients and a pretty great selection of beers on tap. A staple in Orillia for sure.’

The Brewery Bay Food Company does dine in, take out and catering, and boasts a hireable special events room they call ‘Down by the Bay’ which contains a private bar, private audio and video system, and accessible washroom.
