Right off of Highway 7 East in Markham, on No. 4261, there is a little plaza where Smash Kitchen & Bar is located. This place serves comfort food at its finest, with Canadian and American-inspired cuisine, over a friendly, upscale, yet pleasant atmosphere.
This place has a private parking lot for cars and bikes. It is wheelchair accessible and is large enough to accommodate a big family with kids or a large group of friends. It has free Wi-Fi and several TVs. When the weather allows it, there is outside seating. The menu is an interesting and eclectic mix of dishes made from fresh ingredients by a very competent chef and his staff.
Smash serves lunch and dinner and is opened for breakfast/brunch on weekends. It gets very popular during the evenings, so it is smart to make a reservation. The working hours vary depending on the day of the week, and on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday it is open from 11.30 AM up to 10 PM. On Thursday and Friday they're open from 11.30 AM to 11 PM, on Saturday and Sunday it opens for breakfast and brunch, at 9 AM and closing time is at 10 PM.

- Enjoyable interior with private dining options
- The varied and extensive menu
- Daily promotions and happy hour
- Friendly, yet professional staff
- Some complaints about the prices of some dishes
The Smash Kitchen & Bar opened in 2012. It is decorated in a mixed style of modern and traditional, with a lot of industrial elements. The ceilings are all exposed ductwork painted black, with suspended light fixtures and ceiling fans painted bright yellow. The floors are all nice cream-coloured tiles that add some warmth. There is a large granite-top bar with ample seating around it; also there are nice large seating booths and plenty of tables and chairs, and private dining rooms.
The tables and chairs are all wooden; the walls have shelves holding bottles of wine or some decorative item like large candles in metal holders. There is a patio that is in use during the warm summer months.
The menu offered at Smash is varied and beautifully thought of. There is a lunch and dinner menu available from Monday to Friday, with offers like soups, appetizers like seafood cakes, cornbread, chicken wings, salads, burgers and sandwiches, pizzas, and comfort foods like Mac & Cheese, BBQ Pork Ribs, BBQ brisket, and sweets like homemade mini doughnuts, toffee cake, and chocolate bar served with sorbet. The brunch menu is available on weekends from 9 AM to 3 PM, offering salads, entrees like eggs Benedict, Smash burger and French toast, among others.
Smash serves alcohol from its full bar, and with cocktails, sangria, draft and bottled beers, large selection of white and red wines and hard spirits, this place is a good choice for a night out with friends.
