This Italian restaurant is located on 27 Fourth Street in Collingwood, Ontario. Brunello’s is ranked as the #1 restaurant in Collingwood, according to TripAdvisor, and we’ve decided to look deeper at this claim. The restaurant offers Italian cuisine and plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
There is some street side parking, but no bike parking near this place. There is no TV in this place and it is not very suitable for children, as it is a more romantic place, and reservations are strongly recommended. There is enough room for larger groups of people, as this is also a favourite place for celebratory dinners or even business dinners.
It serves dinner only, opening at 5 PM and closing at 10 PM from Tuesday to Saturday, and is closed on Sunday and Monday. Brunello’s has been reviewed online on Yelp, Google Reviews, and Trip Advisor, and I’ve used the reviews from patrons to make a list of pros and cons of this place.
- Good food options
- A romantic, intimate setting
- Good drink options
- Notes about excellent pasta
- Great service
- Notes of being overpriced
The Brunello’s restaurant was opened in 2007. An Italian couple owns it, Mario and Teresa Comegna, who after owning an Italian trattoria in Burlington, moved to Collingwood and opened Brunello’s, and have received an award for the Best Fine Dining in Collingwood according to the Readers Choice.
The restaurant is situated in an old Victorian house, renovated in an authentic style. The restaurant has off-white and red walls, exposed beams on the ceilings, a lot of wooden and wrought iron rustic decorations that remind of Tuscany. The dining rooms are relatively private, offering an intimate dining experience. The tables have sparkling white table cloths, and the food is served in white porcelain dishes.
Chef Mario creates the menu, and it offers classic Italian antipasti like carpaccio sottobosco, frittura di Pesce (calamari and shrimp), salads and soups like caprese, arugula, and more, pasta and risotto dishes like Linguine Tutto Mare (seafood linguine), gnocchi, and other. The main dishes usually offer some kind of meat, like beef, venison, veal or lamb, as is the traditional Italian cuisine.
Chef Mario carefully curates the wine list, ensuring the perfect wine and food pairing is available for the patrons. For the people that are not into wine, there is a good selection of spirits and even some cocktails.
Brunello’s is a favourite restaurant to take your partner for a romantic dinner, preferably with a prior reservation. To end a romantic dinner, there are some very decadent desserts, and fine Italian coffee served here.
