About Sizzling Wok:
The wok is the name for the most-used Chinese cooking dish, and the Sizzling Wok is the name of a Chinese restaurant in Barrie, Ontario. This restaurant is located in the strip plaza on the corner of Little Avenue and Bayview Drive, in Unit 9.
There is a big parking lot in front of the restaurant and this place is wheelchair accessible. The place is not intended as a dine-in restaurant, but there are still a few tables and chairs for the most persistent clients. People can order directly from the restaurant or get a meal delivered to them via Skip the Dishes app.
The Sizzling Wok opens for business at 11 AM and works up to 10 PM on Monday through Thursday, on Friday it works from 11 AM to 11 PM, on Saturday from noon to 11 PM and on Sunday from noon to 10 PM. I completed the following list of pros and cons of the Sizzling Wok from the reviews I read on Google Reviews, trip Advisor and Zomato.
- Great service
- Good menu
- Fresh ingredients
- Takeout and delivery
- Affordable prices
- Notes about too many vegetables in some dishes
- Notes about the small restaurant
The Sizzling Wok has been around for some time, serving Chinese food to the citizens of Barrie since 2014. The primary intention of this restaurant is not to serve dine-in meals, but to pack takeout meals and deliveries. That being said, there are a few tables and chairs inside, but nothing more in amenities or notable décor, only some large potted plants that add some nature inside.
The menu is prepared by the head chef and owner and has many interesting options. There are appetizers like egg rolls, chicken wings, honey garlic spare ribs, onion rings, fish and chips, deep-fried pork dumplings, tempura shrimp and more.
People can order hot & sour soup, wonton soup, mushroom egg drop soup and more. There are the sweet & sour Chinese dishes like sauce, spare ribs, chicken balls, wontons, shrimp, pork and scallions. There is also a selection of Chop Suey (bean sprout) dishes, vegetarian delights, rice dishes like fried rice with different toppings, or steamed or fried plain white rice. Chicken dishes, beef and pork dishes prepared in traditional Chinese ways, as well as seafood dishes.
No Chinese menu would be complete without a proper offer of noodles, and the Sizzling Wok prepares Cantonese style egg noodles: Cantonese Chow Mein with shrimp, pork, or chicken, Lo Mein with shrimp, BBQ pork, veggies or chicken meat. There are also Shanghai noodle and stir-fry noodles. The Egg Foo Young offer is good, as is the Mein Feng offer, the hot and spicy and the curry dishes for the people that like hot food.
The lunch special is served from 11 AM to 3 PM and is available for walk-ins only with very affordable price. The combination dinners come in two variations, with orders for two, three, four, five and six people. If you live/work close to the Sizzling Wok, you can most certainly give it a chance.
