About C K Chinese Food:
A Chinese food restaurant offering takeout and delivery of freshly prepared meals, CK Chinese Food is now located on 7 Glenwood Drive, in Unit 2 of Glenwood Plaza in north Barrie, Ontario. This place serves lunch and dinner from their extensive menu prepared from fresh local ingredients.
There is good parking space near the restaurant, but nothing much in amenities, as the primary business is in takeout and food delivery. There are a few tables inside for the most persistent customers and a small TV. The CK Chinese food restaurant is closed on Monday, on Tuesday to Thursday it works from noon to 10 PM, on Friday and Saturday from noon to 10.30 PM and on Sunday from 12 PM to 9 PM.
This place has been serving Chinese food to the people of Barrie for a long time, and in that time, it has received plenty of reviews online. I went through these to bring a list of the pros and cons of this restaurant.
- Great menu
- Reasonable prices
- Generous portions
- Freshly prepared food
- Family-owned place
- Lots of North American influences in the menu
- Notes about a mix-up with takeout
The CK Chinese Food restaurant has been operating in Barrie for about 40 years at their original location on Bayfield Street. Due to some construction work, they had to move to 7 Glenwood Street. The décor is simple, with deep red walls, interesting tables and chairs, family photos on the walls, and a large snake plant, and a money plant over the fireplace.
The menu served here is very nice indeed, and favoured by many people for a long time. There are appetisers like Chinese dumplings, egg rolls, spring rolls, and Vietnamese spring rolls, Cantonese and Mongolian style BBQ ribs, sweet & sour wontons and more.
The Chinese cuisine considers soups as an essential part of the meal, and at CK, there is always hot and sour soup and wonton soup on the menu. Fried rice is also a staple in Chinese cuisine. The menu offers different types of noodles like Cantonese Chow Mein, pan-fried noodles, beef Ho Fan, Mein Feng, Singapore and Shanghai noodles, and Lo Mein in several varieties.
Cantonese stir fry meals and Chop Suey dishes are very famous here. The Szechuan cuisine offers General Tso’s chicken/pork and Kung Pao chicken/beef. CK offers Pad Thai and Golden Thai Curry, as well as sweet and sour dishes like sweet and sour chicken balls, lemon chicken, breaded shrimp with lobster sauce, and similar dishes prepared with pineapple sauce.
Always fan-favourite, CK prepared dishes like chilli chicken, imperial pork, dry garlic ribs, emperor’s garden, sesame chicken/beef, ginger beef/chicken, black peppers beef and more. There is a dinner plate for one offer in two options, and dinner combinations and packages for two, three, four, five and six people with a good selection of items that provide an abundance of flavours and spices.
