For the Win Board Game Café & Bar

3216 Yonge St, Toronto
About For the Win :

A board game café and bar located on 3216 Younge Street in Toronto, Ontario, For the Win offers over 1,000 games, a good food menu and an excellent drinks menu. The friendly staff always has a good suggestion for a game and they even provide help learning a new game.

There is street-side parking for cars and bikes and is wheelchair accessible. There are a full bar and a happy hour, as well as daily specials for each day of the week. This café/bar takes reservations, is welcoming to children and can fit larger groups of people. The atmosphere is casual and the noise level is average, yet on occasion can get loud due to patrons carried in the games they play.

The food menu served here is simple, yet the drinks menu is quite extensive. For The Win café/bar is opened from 5 PM to 11 PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 5 PM to 1 AM on Friday, from 2 PM to 1 AM on Saturday and from 2 PM to 11 PM on Sunday. It is closed on Mondays.

From the reviews online on Yelp, Trip Advisor, Google Reviews and Facebook, I was able to create the following list of pros and cons.

  • Over 1,000 board games
  • Good snacks and drinks menu
  • Excellent teas and coffees
  • A pleasant, simple interior
  • Helpful and knowledgeable staff

  • Notes on a limited menu
  • Complaints about poor customer service on occasion

Opened in 2014, this place is family owned and run. It has a bright and airy interior with plenty of shelves filled with all kinds of board games which patrons can play with just an $8 all-you-can-play fee. There are white walls all around, with one blue accent wall and a blackboard wall behind the bar/counter where the daily and weekly specials are outlined.

The seats are wood and leather-upholstered with comfortable leather seating booths and wooden tables. The far wall is where the games are kept and people can choose whatever interests them. According to their website, they add at least one new game a week.

The menu is limited to snack foods like Panko shrimp, Okonomiyaki fries, party mix, tortilla chips & layered dip, French fries, sweet potato fries, mozzarella sticks and grilled naan with dip. There are sandwiches on the menu like For the Win melt, Montreal smoked meat, grilled cheese and grilled cheese with bacon. The dessert menu has Shibuya honey toast, Apple crumble with ice cream and brownie sundae.

The drinks menu has soju, beer in tall cans and bottles, and cocktails made with fresh fruit juice. For the Win café/bar has a good tea offer, like their signature milk teas: Thai milk and Rose milk teas, as well as bubble teas in a milk or fruit option. The drinks offer also has slushies and a large selection of coffees like Nutella, Matcha, Vanilla, Taro late, cappuccino, Mocha, hot chocolate, Americano, espresso and more. There are daily specials for every day of the week, and for more info, you need to follow For The Win café on social media.
