About Mandala Café & Lounge:

Located at 10670 Younge Street, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, there is a nice little Middle Eastern café & lounge with a hookah bar aptly named Mandala Café & Lounge. Offering dinner, desserts, and late night entertainment, this is most definitely a different kind of fun.

The Mandala Café offers a varied menu containing starters, salads, entrees, pizzas, and desserts. You need to make a reservation to get a table on the, particularly busy nights. The place has its private parking lot for cars only, is wheelchair accessible, but due to the nature of the entertainment offered – a hookah bar, it is not suitable for children.

The Mandala Café opens for business every day of the week from 3 PM and stays open until 1 AM on Sundays through Thursdays, and up to 2 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. You can go there with your date or as a large group, and this place is equipped to accommodate you in any capacity.

Several online places like Yelp, Google Reviews, and Facebook have reviews from people that have visited this place. I have reviewed all of these and made a list of the pros and cons related to Mandala Café & Lounge.

Pros:

  • Pleasant interior and atmosphere
  • Great hookah selections
  • Excellent, delicious food selection
  • Professional and friendly staff
  • Excellent drink selection

Cons:

  • Complaints about the price of hookah
  • Slow service on some nights

This place is opened as a result of the owner's roots and inspiration from the Middle East. The interior is made in a way that reminds of an ancient Middle Eastern tavern with a lot of modern twists. There are modern details everywhere, starting from the chairs, tables and décor, elegant wooden accents, but with traditional Middle Eastern tablecloths, tea glasses, teapots, a lavish fountain, even more, lavish chandeliers, and, of course, the hookah/shisha.

The teas available here are served in a nice hand-hammered copper pot, in a copper carrying tray and a traditional tea glass. The dishes on the menu are prepared with care, from fresh ingredients and served on nice white platters and wooden serving boards.

Mandala Café has strategically placed TV sets that usually run sports events or music videos. Working in the evenings, the Mandala Café features a cool lighting pattern, with red and yellow lights that add a mystic feel to the place and a lot of little fairly lights dispersed throughout the establishment.

There are many house specials, but the Mandala fries and the BBQ Chicken pizza are among the most ordered items on the menu and the most often mentioned in the reviews on Yelp. This place does not serve alcohol, as is with the Middle Eastern traditions, and instead offers a variety of teas and non-alcoholic beverages.

The hookahs (shisha) are something amazing. These can be personalized, with an option for a head, flavour, and add-on. There are regular, orange, grapefruit, pineapple and watermelon heads (base) and a wide variety of flavours and special mixes that you can enjoy.
