Archibald’s Pub

About Archibald’s Pub:

The Archibald’s Neighbourhood Pub is located at 8950 Yonge Street in Richmond Hill, Ontario. Advertised as the first pub in Richmond Hill, this restaurant serves a Canadian-inspired menu with predominantly pub-favoured dishes in a laid-back atmosphere.

The pub has a private parking lot for cars and bikes, has free WIFI, large TVs, outdoor seating and a daily happy hour offer. You can make a reservation in this establishment and enjoy a night of relaxed fun with your friends. It is not a very adequate place to take your kids, as it is still a pub, but you may get away with it during the day, as it serves lunch and dinner.

Archibald’s Pub is a huge place, with enough room for about 140 people both inside and outside on their heated patio. The pub opens at 11 AM from Monday to Saturday, and on noon on Sunday. It usually closes at 1 AM from Sunday thru Wednesday, and at 2 AM on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

During its long tradition, Archibald’s Neighborhood Pub has been visited by a lot of patrons that have shared their experiences online on Yelp, Trip Advisor, Google Reviews and Facebook. I’ve used these to create a list of this pub’s pros and cons.

  • Great pub atmosphere
  • Professional, friendly staff
  • Good choice of domestic and imported beers
  • Happy hour, karaoke, live music
  • Nice heated patio

  • Notes about the outdated décor
  • Complaints about the sizes of some dishes

The Archibald’s Neighborhood Pub has been in business since 1988, and it is the oldest pub in Richmond Hill. It is a nicely sized place with two levels, with the standard wooden details, a long wooden bar with seats running the length of the bar. The ceilings have exposed beams, the walls have exposed brick, and there is an open fireplace in the centre of the room.

The décor is pub-like, with different beer brand paraphernalia, framed posters, and sports flags. There are brass accents as well as tablecloth-free tables and a lot of TVs that feature sporting events. There is a small stage area that hosts live bands and brave karaoke singers.

The menu is prepared by Chef George that has worked here for over 17 years and knows what the pub-goers enjoy. There are many munchies and appetiser options, salads, sandwiches, homemade burgers, pizzas, excellent fare selection that includes curry chicken and New York Strip Loin Steak, and the pub favourites like fish & chips, tuna melt, stir-fry, steak & pasta and more. There are separate fries and nachos selection, as well as wings in different sauces.

The staff at Archibald’s Neighborhood Pub is friendly and professional and attentive to the clients’ needs. There are weekly special events that attract a regular crowd. Tuesdays are Euchre nights from 7-9 PM; every other Wednesday is Open Mic/Live Band; Friday is karaoke night from 10 PM to closing, Saturday is live music from 10 PM to closing, and on Sundays there is a paint night from 6 to 8 PM. And the happy hour is every day from 3 PM to 6 PM with daily appetizers and wing specials. For games, there is NTN Trivia, Table Soccer, and QB1 Interactive play.
