| Founded in 1847, Alliston a small town a population of just under 10,000. Alliston is known as the birthplace of the the co-discoverer of insulin, Sir Frederick Banting for which the town's High School is named after. Today it is know for the large Honda car manufacturing plant and the annual Potato Festival held in the fall. The local paper is the Alliston Herald, published weekly. | ||
