Orangeville, Ontario

Orangeville was incorporated as a town in 1874, but named a few years earlier, 1863, after Orange Lawrence, a businessman born in the U.S. who later moved to Canada and bought land in the area. Today it has a population of just under 30 thousand. The local newspaper is the Banner, founded in 1893. Local festivals include the Orangeville Blues and Jazz Festival in June.

While not part of Simcoe Country, we've included it here due to its closeness to other Simcoe towns.
